On the Lamb Leather Field Coat

First, a caveat: To wear this jacket, it´s best if you drink your Macallan straight up, are fluent in Russian and Muay Thai, and have multiple passports. The leather - a top-dyed, rigorously dry-drummed lambskin - looks as if it´s been worn more than once to jump out of a moving car, and yet maintains a sophisticated suppleness that comes in handy when eluding double agents. Cold-season optimized with a cotton-lined torso; zip-front with snap storm flap; drawcord waist; and, at the back of the stand-up collar, a rainproof zip-away nylon hood. Plenty of pockets, including side entry at the hip, and three inside. Relaxed fit. Professional leather clean. Imported in Black.

nice but

I liked this coat for it's unusual design and soft leather, but the sizing is a bit small and the collar with hidden nylon hood just seemed bulky and plain useless. Perhaps a larger size would have pleased me if it had zipper sleeves like a biker jacket, I could have used it to ride the Harley.

Great Coat
Date:April 10, 2012
This coat is exceptional - made of very soft leather which is perfectly weathered and warm with a quilted lining. The medium runs a little small and the waist cord toggles are rather annoying.

Used a 25% off coupon for this great find. Even the seriously uncool would be transformed by this jacket. I replaced my tan leather TA coat with this one and I just feel good wearing it. Highly recommend.

Killer Deal & drawstring fix
Date:March 4, 2012
I've been wanting this coat for a while. After it went on sale with the additional email discount codes, I pounced on it. It is everything described & more. It's soft, warm and incredibly cool looking. The weathering is perfect & adds to the look. The drawstring cord, however is ridiculous & the metal ends fly around & hit things so I purchased cord stops, fished the cord through & now I can adjust the draw cord for a more fitted look & the metal ends don't fly around & smack things anymore even though they're stll there..

excellent value if on sale
Date:February 15, 2012
The coat is good looking and good quality. The first one I had to send back, as it was small in the shoulders. I am usually a medium to large and medium was too small. Large is perfect and I am very much enjoying my coat, which I bought on sale. It is a little pricey for me at full price, but a great coat if you can get it on sale.

Great casual coat
Date:January 29, 2012
I bought this coat in both a small and a medium as with jackets I'm in between. I'm a 38R, 32W, 15x32 shirt and 5'8" tall. The small worked great for me although it might feel to tight for most guys (I think were all used to wearing things oversized). I still have room to wear a very heavy sweater underneath for when it's cold and the jacket is heavy enough for cooler temps (25F). The burnishing is well done so it doesn't look totally fake and it's well made. I would probably get rid of the hood as it's not good for much and makes the collar very thick and stiff. Without it you could also fold the collar back more like a shirt collar for a different look. I have had the jacket for almost 2 months and it looks great and gets alot of compliments. The sal price would make it an even better value.

Supple and Splendid!!
Date:January 26, 2012
I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he was absolutely delighted! He wanted a lamb coat but thought it would be too extravagant. He and I both like the longer look. The leather has just the slightest look of wear to it, which really adds a tad of demension and texture. It is really elegant but versatile. Don't miss the chance to buy this. You won't regret it!!

Not My Bag Baby
Date:January 26, 2012
I should probably rate the value higher -- but this coat is just not what I was looking for. I own the Band of Outsiders jacket (outstanding) and the Star Valley Field Coat (not outstanding). First, the size on this coat is slimmer than either of the other two. I would describe this as a regular cut and the other two as full cuts. It is also not a heavy leather -- and I realize that Lambskin is not typically a heavy leather, but this one is really UNheavy. I have an Orvis Munitions vest (lambskin) that is heavier leather than this entire coat. That is the ONLY reason I say this coat is not my bag. I love heavy leather. But this is just a personal preference thing. The quality of the coat is good, the fit is good, and the value at $299 is really really good. The coat overall is another great Territory Ahead offering and at $299, hard to beat. Finally, I love the style of this coat. Did not want to drop the bucks for a Steve McQueen original from Barbour and, at least in my opinion, this is close enough for the price.

Distinctive, quality coat
Date:January 8, 2012
Very nice, supple leather with a built-in "slightly worn" appearance. I purchased this coat around a year ago at full price; obviously it's a better value when it's on sale. Like most of TA's products, it tends to run a bit on the large side--I'm 5'9", 155 and about a 40" chest and 15" sleeve, so I ordered a medium. Sleeves are maybe 1-2" too long, and the bottom of the coat is about even with my crotch. The side pockets ride kind of low; if you like to keep your hands in your pockets it will take some getting used to. I may have been better off getting size S.

My new favorite coat
Date:January 7, 2012
This coat looks and feels more expensive than it is. The lightly weathered look is distinctive and is what sets this coat apart. The lambskin is butter soft yet still substantial, and the cotton plaid lining looks great and provides extra warmth. I generally wear size medium in coats and jackets and this one fits true to size. The leather, zippers, snaps, and workmanship have made this my new favorite.

Great coat
Date:November 1, 2011
I have had a leather jacket for more than 20 years, a waist length brown one; still love it but wanted to have a black one that is a bit longer ... this went on sale and filled the bill nicely; would pay full price for it but didn't have to. Nice leather, a nice substantial jacket without being too bulky. A great, classy look.

Great leather!
Date:October 22, 2011
Distinctive leather coats are hard to find. I love this one. Great heft for durability. Great finish with just a little brown showing at the edges. Heavy zipper and snaps on zipper flap. The jacket can be dressed up or down. Practical good looks. Unless you live in a very cold climate you won't want to layer much, so order one size smaller.

Love this Jacket
Date:October 4, 2010
OK,so I just got my Lamb Leather Field Coat and I love it. The leather is high quality and has a great finish to it. The details are impressive, sturdy zippers and solid stitching. I've been looking for a leather jacket like this for some time now. I bought the Core Leather Vest last year and it's been my favorite garment since, but I wanted something a little heavier for the winter months. A word of warning, this jacket is not for "Hipsters". This is more of a "Yeah, I'm in my 40's, so what!!!
